The beauty of Davao Oriental is endless. This region is composed of 11 municipalities in total with each having a special unique experience to offer. People living in Davao Region are in luck because the Davao Oriental’s rich culture and natural resources is literally within arm’s reach. Just a few hours of peaceful drive in the paved roads of the north and you’ll arrive there with a long list of experiences to do!
Mati - the first city/ municipality on the list is definitely this one. Visit the long stretch of Dahican Beach in Mati City if you want to achieve your surfer dreams. It’s a good place to have a quick chill over the weekend and just relax with your friends. There’s a lot of tourists here so be prepared during the peak seasons when it gets really crowded.
Cateel - a little farther south and you’ll reach Baganga. Unlike Mati that has a wide beach line, Cateel offers the famous Aliwagwag falls. It’s still a water experience but a more peaceful one since you’ll be swimming in the falls. Go to the highest part of the staircase-like boulders and take a jump if you dare!
San Isidro - is a municipality you can visit if you want a more quiet and raw experience for yourself. It’s a good place to stay although there is not much accommodation in the area. You can visit this for a quick stop and lunch. Here you can find Mt. Hamiguitan Museum that gives you a glimpse of the UNESCO world heritage site’s rich vegetation types. The municipality also serves as one of the three entry points if you want to climb to Mt. Hamiguitan itself.
Caraga- in the far ends of Caraga, you can find Pusan Point Museum. The region sure has a lot of museums thanks to former governor Malanyaon’s efforts. Discover about astronomy and a lot more as you go inside the science discovery museum. They also have a pool in case you want a quick dip.
Governor Generoso - the last is definitely not the least on this one because Governor Generoso is a booming place if you want to find beach resorts near dahican. Since Mati can get so crowded nowadays, you can go to Gov. Gen. instead and check out places like Camp Bernardino de Lavigan which offers a more “raw” experience of the region. What to do in Camp Bernardino de Lavigan? Definitely a lot - from swimming to diving, water sports, and eating the freshest seafood, there’s something for everyone here.
Each municipality of Davao Oriental gives you a unique memorable experience. But for people who want to relax and enjoy the beauty of pristine waters, type in “where is Camp Bernardino de Lavigan” on google now, check out their Facebook page, and start planning your trip there.
